Fast Facts:

Brad Jones sat down with Stan Bastek, Vice President and General Manager of Atlas Roofing, at CoolToday Park during a contractor event this spring to share what twenty years in the roofing business has taught him. Brad built Roof Time General Contractors on the relationships he made, and twenty years later, those relationships have outlasted the work. He’s spent his career in long partnerships, including this one, and is now handing his company off to the same team he built it with.

Before the Roof

Brad Jones was supposed to play baseball. He went to the University of Texas on a baseball ride, signed with the Texas Rangers, and played through their minor league system until 1985, when an injury at home plate ended that plan.

What came next was construction, and it happened more or less by accident. When Brad’s father sold his independent insurance agency, he made Brad sign a non-compete and told him, “Son, you need to go find a living.” So Brad did, at an insurance restoration company where he learned the trade from the ground up.

Commercial roofing came first, then residential, and eventually the road. By 2003, he was working storm response across the Southeast, and by early 2005, he was out on his own as the owner of Roof Time General Contractors.
